Erik Selvig is a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), portrayed by actor Stellan Skarsgård. He is a renowned astrophysicist with expertise in theoretical physics and interdimensional travel.
Selvig first appeared in the MCU film *Thor* (2011). He serves as a mentor and colleague to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), assisting her in her research on wormholes. He initially doubts the existence of Asgard and Thor, but his beliefs are challenged by the events of the film.
